Published on Apr 3, 2018 11:48

Flood Potential: Low

Ice Jam Potential: Low

Issued to: local municipalities, school boards, local conservation authorities, emergency response agencies, health unit, media, NVCA board & staff.

Date:       April 3, 2018 (10:00 AM)

The Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority advises that 20-30 mm of rain is forecast for the south part of the watershed, with 10-15 mm to the north. This rainfall will increase stream flows in area watercourses. The public and especially children are advised to stay away from all area water bodies as slippery banks and cold, fast flowing water will result in dangerous conditions.

Current weather forecasts are calling for rain accumulation of up to 30 mm of rain beginning Tuesday afternoon and continuing into Wednesdaymorning. No major flooding is anticipated. However, there is the potential for localized flooding and unsafe conditions around area streams and rivers.

The Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority continues to monitor river and stream conditions and will issue additional messages as conditions warrant. This statement will be in effect until 4:00 p.m., Friday April 6, 2018.
