School is CLOSED ON DECEMBER 4TH

Dear Parents and Guardians:
All of the Catholic elementary and secondary schools in the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board will be closed for students on Wednesday, December 4th. We were informed at midnight that a settlement was not reached and OSSTF is proceeding with a one day strike. This includes the cancellation of busses, field trips, use of facilities permits and before and aftercare programs. Schools will reopen for all students on Thursday, December 5th.
At our board, OSSTF represents educational assistants, designated early childhood educators, office and clerical and maintenance staff. The absence of these education workers, due to this one day strike action, would impact our ability to ensure a safe learning environment for our students.

We hope this will provide clarity around the ongoing province-wide negotiations for education workers and what that means for our school communities.
